The first part is just exposition, but it makes up like 40% of t book and the whole time I’m like ‘can we get to the fucking main bit’. The main bit, the thing the book is about is GREAT. I wanted way more, I wanted deeper scenes and dialogues and going into how she embodies these characters. I didn’t mind when shit gets off the rails, thoigh I don’t like the cop out, and the final epilogue chapter spoils a lot of the fun and was very unnecessary. The middle is what this book is to me, and I’m wiping the rest of it out of my mind.
Also, at the start I was like, yknow this unlikable female main character is getting p tired when the character is so boring outside of it, but she does it so well during the actual main part of the story, …

Also, at the start I was like, yknow this unlikable female main character is getting p tired when the character is so boring outside of it, but she does it so well during the actual main part of the story, when we see it’s all desperation and fear and an inability to connect. But, here’s something I wrote down in my notes like 40% into the book:
“I used to belong here. I hadn’t belonged anywhere in a very long time” girl ur 36, go to therapy
And it still rings true. Spoilers kinda, but the crux of the book is that this obsession is a trauma response and that’s so boooooring. Just make her crazy!!! Don’t give her a sad backstory, just make her batshit insane and unapologetic
