The solitary summer

Since Elizabeth first discovered her German garden, she has invested all her energies in creating a paradise of it. When she declares her intention to be left unvisited and undisturbed for the duration of the entire summer, her husband, the Man of Wrath, indulgently acquiesces, convinced his wife will regret her rash decision when she finds her days steeped in dullness.
