I’ve read this book carefully, and re-read it too.

There’s no ambiguity here. A neutral position is either inconsistent with the facts, based on ethnonationalism, or both.

Israel is the aggressor. Over the course of a century, Palestinians have been pushed into a corner. Despite many opportunities to make things better, Israel has focused only on its expansionist goals. It does not stand for peace. The result is an unfathomable level of suffering. Palestine is now a complete mess, and this fact is used to further dehumanize Palestinians, creating an awful feedback loop.

This is deeply disturbing (though nothing new against the backdrop of atrocities committed in human history). My hope is that everyone wakes up and sees this for what it is. Let’s throw the nationalism out the window. Let’s throw the middle ground fallacy out the window. Let’s do what we can. For most of us, the most …
