The Wee Free Men is a 2003 comic fantasy novel by British writer Terry Pratchett, which takes place in his Discworld setting. The final book in the series, The Shepherd's Crown, was released in 2015. While Terry Pratchett's first Discworld book for children, The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents had swearing translated to rat language, in this book it is in the dialect of the Nac Mac Feegle which is taken from Scots and Scottish Gaelic. An illustrated edition of the novel, with pictures by Stephen Player, appeared in print on 2 October 2008.

Great book! I love the Nac Mac Feegle. Their way of seeing the world and how they not understand big chops is hilarious. The book gets a bit weird in the end, but I still would recommend it.
Eines meiner Lieblingsbücher von der Scheibenwelt, jetzt vorgelesen weil das Kind im richtigen Alter dazu ist und etwas "Lustiges und Ernstes" wollte. Eignet sich hervorragend zum kapitelweise Vorlesen und hat die richtige Mischung aus Ernsthaftigkeit, ein bisschen Grusel, Witz und Spannung. Die Übersetzung ist gelungen, wobei ich finde, dass man den Nac Mac Feegle einfach ihren Namen hätte lassen können. Als Einstieg in die Scheibenwelt jedenfalls sehr gut geeignet.
