I have to say... from the son of the currently reigning King of Horror...this is fantastic, and you can hear echoes of his father all throughout, while the story takes off, and Joe Hill manages to create an entirely realistic world of his own. Who's to say that science won't one day turn up a spore that lights people on fire? With the way our society and our world is going... it could happen. Either way, take Joe's fictional account in the beautiful territory of New England as a warning... This world does not want to end up like that.

If you love enemies to lovers romance novels, then you will love this series; indeed it is about the fantasy (one of the best takes on vampirism ever, if you ask me), but also the author doesn't neglect the humanitarian side of the coin; nearly every page has the main character questioning her choices; Poppy is intelligent, beautiful, and confident... all traits in female characters that I absolutely adore.

This was amazing... A great start to a great series.

the fifth installment in this series is just as good as the first four have been. If you haven't read this yet, I'll tell you. It's intense.

When Celaena finally decides to understand who she's becoming and who she potentially could be; as nasty as the events that occur in this novel are, and how horribly they nearly warp one woman beyond recognition, they are needed for the future.

Some bundles of these books would seek to put this book last in the list of the seven novels. In my humble opinion, it ought to be put first... because this content is what makes the reader aware of many of the references that Celaena makes in later novels. Without it, you will easily get confused.

amazing start to what would end up beingg a great series.

I originally grabbed the entire series in one big Kindle book, but when I realized that the novellas were prior to the main storyline, I decided to return it and buy each individually.

I think that King went out on a huge limb here... and boy am I glad he did. This story, like the Shining, It, and the Institute before it, show the magnificent theme of "kid power" that Stephen is so good at. charlie Reade was no exception. I think that if he were a real person, I would want to get to know him, and I would probably hang out with him on a regular basis. Either way, if you want a book that's emotional as it is rivetting, then King does it again. It does have some of his normal horror, but this one gives the reader a bit of a break from that, where we see the more fantastical side of this wonderful and legendary author.

This is one of the best retellings of Jack and the Beanstalk I have read... at least that's where part of the basis comes from. then again, I could be wrong. A storyteller like King probably has a ton of tricks up his sleeve that we can't even begin to hint at.

Loved this one.

One of the best world building sagas you will read if you are a fantasy lover. You can see the developmeent of every single character, both from their past into their present.

I have never read anything as of yet by the author... but their stuff sounds amazing.
